"textile artist Barbara Shapiro of San Francisco loves
Karen's beautiful chocolates almost as much as she loves indigo dyeing!
What a delicious collaboration" says Barbara.
Barbara works in textiles exploring avenues in weaving, basketry and surface design. she produces series such as Indigo Landscapes, Mended Turnings, Baskets, Mantles and Scrolls, and Power Garments.
for us, she has created indigo dyed paper and cloth in itajime - clamp resist and kyokechi - a 16th century Japanese resist dyeing technique where fabric or paper is clamped between pairs of hand-carved wooden boards and then submerged in the indigo dye vat.
